Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has become the first manager to make an enquiry about Hibs and Scotland striker Steven Fletcher.

According to a report in today's Daily Mail, Hughes is the first manager to make a move about the possible signing of Fletcher, and has asked his contacts in Scotland to draw up a dossier on the young striker.

The Hibees are looking for £4m for the Scotland striker, who scored a 35 yard screamer against Motherwell at Fir Park last week in a 4-1 away win, and the fee will be no problem for the richest club in the world.

It is thought Hughes could be handed up to £400m in the January transfer window as he looks to build the most exciting and expensive squad ever assembled.

Man City have so far been linked with a number superstars such as Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

Robinho has already arrived at the City of Manchester Stadium for a staggering £32m in the summer.

Could Fletcher be on the verge of a stunning move south to join up with them???

Hughes was thought to be weighing up a move for Fletcher when he was Blackburn Rovers boss and has taken his interest with him to Manchester.

Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona have already been linked with Fletcher, and Madrid admitted they had the player watched on a number of ocassions.

Rangers, Celtic, Blackburn Rovers, Aston Villa, West Ham, Middlesbrough and Newcastle United are all thought to also be interested in Fletcher.
