Pre-season result - Raith Rovers 1-0 Hibs - MATCH ABANDONED

Last updated : 22 July 2009 By Steve Forbes

Hibs latest pre-season friendly descended in to farce tonight, when the match with Raith Rovers was abandoned due to weather conditions after 47 minutes.

The floodlights at Starks Park failed due to a power surge caused by the thunder and lightning, the referee then decided to take the players off the pitch until the problem was fixed, but the weather got worse during the 15 minute delay, and ref David Sommers called a halt to proceedings.

Raith Rovers were 1-0 up on the Hibees at the time, through a goal from Iain Williamson, and deserved their lead.

Hibs took another big travelling support across the Forth Road Bridge for the second time in four days, with an estimated 2,000 making the trip to Stark’s Park.

As the match was not a league game or cup tie, Raith are under no obligation to refund the spectators for the abandonment of the game.

The Hibs line-up on the night was:

Hibernian:

Ma-Kalambay

McCann
Hanlon
Hogg
Thicot
McBride
Zemmama
Wotherspoon
Johansson
Stevenson
Galbraith

Subs:

Van Zanten
Murray
Cregg
Rankin
Flynn
Bamba
Riordan
Cropley
Nish
McCormack
Keenan
