Pre-Season Result - Union Berlin 2-0 Hibs

Last updated : 25 July 2012 By Steve Forbes

Hibs played out the last friendly of their short European pre-season tour tonight, against German side Union Berlin.

The Hibees lost 2-0, and at times, were finding it tough against their Bundesliga 2 opponents.

The first half was played in 28 degree heat, but the Hibees put up a good account of themselves, and went in at half time 0-0, although Leigh Griffiths could have given Pat Fenlon's side the lead on a couple of occassions, but for good goalkeeping.

David Wotherspoon was excellent in the middle of the park, and helped the Hibees put in their best 45 minutes of the tour.

Berlin came out in the second half flying, and took the lead from a fantastic free-kick from straight from the training ground, Patrick Kohlmann floating the free kick onto the head of Michael Parnensen to score.

The German's didn't get their second until the last kick off the ball, against a tired Edinburgh side, despite dominating for large spells.

Silva crossed the ball in from the wing for Christopher Quiring to stab the ball home to make it 2-0 on 90 mins.
