Rob Jones and Steven Fletcher stay at Hibs!

Last updated : 02 February 2009 By Steve Forbes

The January transfer window closed at 5pm tonight and the Hibees managed to keep hold of their captain Rob Jones and Striker Steven Fletcher.

The Hibees knocked back bids for Rob Jones from Colchester United and Nottingham Forest.

Forest had two bids knocked back for Jones, the first being £600,000 and the follow up bid in the region of £900,000.

Scotland striker Steven Fletcher was the subject of bids from both Celtic and Cardiff City.

Celtic had an offer of £3m turned down and according to reports Cardiff City had a £3.5m bid thrown out.

Fletcher has now thrown his toys out the pram, and his agent Scott Fisher, speaking on his agents behalf said:

"Steven is extremely disappointed and feels let down by Hibs.

"Hibs were unwilling to give Celtic a concrete figure and so we were unable to conclude a deal.

"He feels he is not getting the opportunity to further his career."

The fact Fletcher has sent his agent to press leaves a sour taste in the mouth for the Hibees support, the club has given the lad the chance of first-team football, and made him the highest paid player at the club.

If he feels let down by the club, it begs the question, did he feel let down when he signed his contract for more money???

Loyalty. Pfft.
