Sunderland latest club linked with Hibs midfielder John McGinn

According to numerous reports, new Sunderland manager Jack Ross is keen on making Hibs midfielder John McGinn his first summer signing.

The former St Mirren boss is keen to make the Scotland international the heartbeat of his new look team, as he looks to lift the Mackems out of League One at the first time of asking.

Sunderland are said to weighing up a £3m move for the Easter Road star, but it may not be enough, with Hibs boss Neil Lennon insisting, on numerous occasions, that the club wants £5m for the player.

McGinn, 23, still has a year on his contract with the Hibees, and with his former club St Mirren due to a 33% sell-on clause, Hibs will be pushing for as much as possible.

Sunderland will likely face competition for his signature should they decide to make a move.

Leeds United, Celtic, Rangers, Middlesbrough, Bournemouth and Brighton have all, already, been linked with a move this summer.

Hibs also turned down offers from Nottingham Forest and Ipswich Town last summer.
