According to the Football Insider, Wigan Athletic are planning a swoop for Hibs winger Demetri Mitchell.
The 25-year-old has struggled for game time since returning from long injury, and has only made 3 appearances this season under Lee Johnson.
Mitchell joined the Hibees last January for a six-figure fee, and he impressed to start with, scoring a few goals before picking up his injury.
Since coming back from injury he has spent most of his time on the bench or in the stands, and with the Hibees looking to trim their squad this window, Wigan boss Kolo Toure sees an oppertunity.
Wigan are sitting bottom of the table in the English Championship and need to bolster their squad if they want any chance of staying up this season.
Former Manchester United and Hearts player Mitchell may also find a return to England appealing.
Hibs are said to be looking to recoup some of the cash they spent on Mitchell when they signed him from Blackpool.
The Hibees have already moved on Steven Bradley, DV player Joao Balde and loan striker flop Momodou Bojang this window.
They are also in talks with a number of clubs about Scotland international Ryan Porteous and have also accepted a bid from Forest Green Rovers for midfield fringe player Jake Doyle-Hayes.
HIBS-MAD VIEW:
There has been rumours that Mitchell was on the way out of the club, so this isn't a surprise.
Mitchell showed in flashes when he first signed that he was a good player, but he has struggled since his injury issues to get back in the team.
Lee Johnson needs to trim his squad, and Mitchell seems an obvious candidate.
A move would probably suit both parties.
