Bristol City after Hibs wing king????

New reports this afternoon suggest that Hibs winger Ivan Sproule could be on the verge of a move to English Championship side Bristol City.

Sproule, 26, is thought to be the subject of a bid of £250,000 from
Bristol manager Gary Johnson, who is looking to add to his options up front after the Robins gained promotion to the Championship.

According to a
Bristol City "insider" the move is almost complete. The insider told the Edinburgh Evening News:

"
Bristol rate Sproule quite highly, he is one of the main targets and it looks like they are close to completing a deal."

Sproule moved to Hibs for just £5,000 from
Northern Ireland amateurs Institute and burst on to the scene in Scotland after his 23 minute hat-trick at Ibrox against Rangers after coming off the bench with the game locked at 0-0.

He has gone on to become a hero amongst the Hibs support and the news that Sproule could be about to depart Easter Road, could cause a fan revolt after the recent departures of Scott Brown, Kevin Thomson, Chris Killen and Michael Stewart.

Also add to that, that Sproule is worth a lot more than £250,000, remember Hibs turned down a bid of £1m from an unnamed Ukrainian side when we faced Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in the Uefa Cup back in 2005. Although it's thought it was Shakhtar Donetsk who bidded £1m and NOT Dnipro, as was reported at the time.
