Chelsea Goalkeeper Yves Makaba Makalamby Arrives At Hibs On Trial!

Last updated : 03 January 2007 By Steve Forbes

Hibs boss John Collins today revealed that giant Chelsea goalkeeper Yves Makaba Makalamby had arrived at Easter road on trial.

The 20-year-old Belgian goalkeeper was allowed to travel North by
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho because of the number of goalkeepers currently at Stamford Bridge.

6ft 5in Makalamby joined
Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven on a free transfer in 2003 and signed a 4-year-contract which still has 18 months to run.

Hibs boss Collins is after a shot stopper after giving blunder keeper Zibi Malkowski the boot and promoting young Andrew McNeil to no1 and with it looking more than likely that Simon Brown will be leaving, this could prove to be the keeper we are after.

Hibs boss John Collins said:

"Jose was happy for him to come up for us to have a look at him. He's young but age means nothing to me, it's quality that counts.

"Chelsea have any number of goalkeepers and have Cech and Cudicini returning. You find the big boys look for experience and have that in every position but it is different for us, we have to go for young players."

Is this the start of the Hibs-Chelsea link up we have been told about???
