Former Hibs keeper Simon Brown training with Brentford

Last updated : 15 June 2007 By Steve Forbes

It has been revealed that freed Hibs 'goalkeeper' Simon Brown is training with Coca Cola League Two outfit Brentford.

Brown, 31, was released by Hibs after a horrendous time at Easter Road. The goalkeeper made gaffe after gaffe and it seems he could be on his way to the newly relegated English side.

Brentford have a new boss in the shape of ex Motherwell manager Terry Butcher, who knows Brown well from his time in
Scotland.

Hibs signed Brown from Colchester United after he had a spell at Tottenham Hotspur.

The player left Hibs under a dark cloud, having a swipe at manager John Collins, making claims about the Hibs gaffer's man management. This coming from a player who was out in the cold under ex manager Tony Mowbray and was given a second chance by John Collins.

Brentford boss Terry Butcher said:

"Simon is one of several players to whom we have spoken and we are interested in him. I know quite a bit about him from my time in
Scotland and I rate him highly. He's an excellent goalkeeper with a lot of experience and know-how."

Brown would be the second goalkeeper to join Brentford from Hibs, Oli Gottskalksson joined the English club from the Hibees.

Brentford seem to have a knack of taking our dodgy keepers, any chance they are looking for a Polish one as well??
