Hibs-Mad understands that former Easter Road striker Damon Gray has had to retire due to injury.

The striker, 25, has apparently had to hang up his boots due to a recurring knee problem, that has plauged him for some time.

Gray was recently playing for Junior side Kelty Hearts.

The geordie hitman broke into the Hibees first team in 2007, making his debut in the Scottish Cup Semi-Final defeat to Dunfermline at Hampden that year.

He got his chance after scoring 40+ goals(combined) in one season for the Hibs U19's and the reserve squad.

Gray only managed 1 goal in a Hibs shirt, this coming against Aberdeen at Pittodrie in a 2-2 draw at the end of the season. This match is always remembered due to the fact then Hibs boss John Collins rested most of his first team squad for the game, and played a team of youngsters, who came away with a credible draw.

His former club's include Berwick Rangers, who he joined on two seprerate occassions. as well as two loan spells with Partick Thistle (whilst with Hibs) and a spell with Ostersunds FK in Sweden.

Hibernian-Mad would like to wish Damon all the very best for the future.
