Hibees youngsters the talk of the media

Hibees manager Tony Mowbray has said he’s used to the speculation, reported these days in the media, about the possibility of his young players moving to either of the Old Firm clubs.

Last season, strike partners Derek Riordan and Garry O'Connor were both linked with the old firm, especially when Hibs were due to play either of the old firm but both remain at Easter Road to this day.

This season so far we have had both, midfielder Kevin Thomson and defender Steven Whittaker linked with possible moves West according to the media that is.

Kevin is contracted to Hibs until 2008 and Steven is contracted till him up to 2009.

Mogga has however, wearily rejected the Old Firm's media hyped interest in the latest rumours regarding two of his young laddies.

He said: "I don't know anything about it. Both those players have got long contracts and both are very much part of our plans and they are going nowhere.

"I hope the speculation continues, because it says something about my players if teams are being constantly connected to our club.

"But in saying that, we had it all last season with Garry and Derek and they are still here."

And with regards this Saturday’s game against Aberdeen at Pittodrie in mind Mogga said:-

"We had some great games against them last season and we shared the spoils.

"Aberdeen showed that they are a team that can compete at the top end of the table.

"We finished on the same points and though we had a good season they also had a good season.

"They have added three or four quality players to their squad and I am sure that they will be right up there at the right end of the SPL this season again."

Brian Hine says: Lets hope Hibs make it all the more difficult for the Dons with a Hibees win in the bag by the end of the ninety minutes or if not then at least a point to bring back down the road.
Prediction:- Aberdeen 1 Hibernian 2
