Hibs Chairman Rod Petrie Dismisses NEW Raja Casablanca Zemmama Claims!

Hibs chairman Rod Petrie today moved to dismiss MORE claims coming from Raja Casablanca over Hibs signing of Merouane Zemmama.

Raja's latest claim is that Hibs sent them an apology and offered them £200,000 for Zemmama but Hibs today moved to deny this.

Raja have claimed from the get go that Zemmama was still under contract to the African side, insisting that he signed a 3-year-deal last year.

Hibs signed Zemmama on a 5-year-deal after he impressed on trial.

Zemmama refutes these claims and has recently said that Casablanca treated him "like a slave".

Fifa recently held an investigation into the the transfer but said they couldn't do anything as Raja's claims were a criminal matter and would have to be taken up by the Moroccan Police.

So far the Moroccan Police have done nothing and it doesn't look like they will.

Hibs chairman Rod Petrie today moved to deny these claims, he said:

"We are dealing with different cultures and languages. We have said from the outset that we did not want to be in dispute with anyone. We want to have cordial relationships with all the clubs we have dealt with in our 131-year history as a professional football club.

"The facts of the matter have not changed one iota, Hibernian has done nothing wrong, the SFA has done nothing wrong, Zemmama is registered to play for us"

Petrie also revealed that there HAD been contact between the two clubs, in an effort by Hibs to keep the whole affair civilised.

He said:

"If there's been a difference of view or opinion then we would like the matter to be resolved so we can all move on.

"We are trying to have a dialogue with the player's former club that would move things on to an amicable footing, it doesn't serve anyone's interest for there to be an animosity between the clubs"

"It is not our style to speak to people through the media. They have our details and we have theirs, if there's anything to be said it can be said directly."

Hopefully Hibs will get this sorted as soon as possible!
