Hibs have today reveled that defender Lewis Miller has joined English side Blackburn Rovers.
The Australian international has signed for the Championship side on a 3-year-deal, with the option of a 4th, for a fee of £1.5m
Rumours had bee circulating for a while that the former Central Coast Mariners players was heading for the exit at Easter Road, with a number of English clubs linked.
The 24-year-old signed for the Hibees in 2022 and has gone on to make 85 appearances and scored 5 goals for the men in green and white.
Hibs boss David Gray said:
“I’d like to start by thanking Millsy for all his efforts during his time with us.
“Since making the move to Scotland, he’s been coachable, willing to learn, and has relentlessly worked on his game. He’s certainly seen the rewards for that both at club level and internationally.
“We know he can go a long way and wish him all the best in England with Blackburn.”
HIBERNIAN-MAD VIEW
It's not a surprise that this move has went through, it's been on the cards for a few weeks.
Millsy came to Hibs a young, inexperienced kid, and has blossomed into a solid player.
He is a much better RCB than he is a RB, but has all the attributes to make in down South.
Good luck Millsy!!
£1.5m is a good fee for a player with one year left on his contract, and with Hibs pocketing a sell-on for Ryan Porteous moving to LAFC from Watford, the Hibees have money to spend.
When you consider the £2m invested in the summer by the owners, and the £1.2m+ fee for Dylan Vente, minus the reported £1.5m we paid for Klidje, we still have a decent amount.
Hibs still have a massive hole to fill after the departure of Triantis and are also on the look-out for another striker, and will now be looking for a defender.
It's likely we could see movement soon.
