Hibs Hitmen In Scotland Squad!

Last updated : 20 July 2005 By Steve Forbes
Hibs received a massive boost today when it was revealed that strike duo, Gary O’Connor and Derek Riordan, have both been called up to the Scotland squad for the World Cup Qualifying games against Moldova and Belarus. The pair have scored 41 goals so far between them this season, with Riordan hitting the net 22 times and his powerful strike partner scoring 19 so far. The two Hibs stars grew up together playing for Granton BC/Sports Club through the age levels and have a great understanding and must surely play some part in the two games and hopefully TOGETHER!!!!!!

Also included in the full squad is defender Gary Caldwell

It is Riordan's first call up to the full squad proper, his only other apperance being at Walter Smith's first time in charge, at a training camp at English giants, Manchester United's training complex.

There was no place for on form midfield dynamo Stephen Glass though.

Also called up to the Scottish Squad, to the Under 21's this time though was Steven Whittaker, Scott Brown and Kevin Thomson who have been drafted in to take part in the UEFA U-21 championship qualifiers
