Hibs Legend Eddie Turnbull Suffers A Heart Attack!

Last updated : 09 February 2006 By steven Forbes

Hibs legend Eddie Turnbull is in hospital, having suffered a heart attack. :-(

The 82 year old former manager and player, is in the
Western General Hospital in Edinburgh recovering as we speak, and thankfully he is on the mend and is expected to be released from hospital on Monday morning.

Eddie is obviously a fighter, having survived Cancer twice.

Eddie was the manager of the famous Hibs side of the 70's known as "Turnbulls Tornados", who won the league cup in 1972.

Eddie was also part of the legendary Hibs forward line "The Famous Five" who sent fear throughout
Europe.

He won 3 league Championship's while a Hibs player in 1947/48,1950/51 and 1951/52

Eddie was also the first British player to score in European Competition, when he scored Hibs first goal against Rott-Weiss Essen in 1955 in the first ever European Cup/Champions League tournament.

He also pulled on the dark Blue of Scotland 9 times and after a long battle with the SFA is to finally get the caps he deserves.

Thanks go out to Rod Petrie and the rest of the group who campaigned for these auld players to get their International caps, thought to be about 90 of them in total, that's players and not caps BTW

Everyone at Hibernian-Mad wishes Eddie a speedy recovery and hope to see him back at Easter Road as soon as possible.

UPDATE....Mr Turnbull
is now at home recovering thankfully.

Best Wishes can be sent to the address below and the club will forward them on, not sure about emails though.
