Hibs Midfield Dynamo Dean Shiels OUT For 3-4 Weeks!

Last updated : 21 February 2007 By Steve Forbes

Hibs received a blow this afternoon, when manager John Collins revealed that midfield dynamo Dean Shiels has picked up a thigh injury and could be out for 3-4 weeks.

Shiels picked up the thigh strain and had been struggling in recent weeks, missing Hibs game against Celtic at Parkhead two weeks ago.

Shiels then passed himself fit to face Rangers in a reserve game, only to aggravate the injury. Shiels was sent for a scan and it was revealed that he has a tear in his thigh muscle.

The Hibs goal machine could now miss next months CIS Cup Final against
Kilmarnock at Hampden.

Hibs boss John Collins said:

"Dean has tried to get through it, to push himself which is a great attitude in one sense but you also have to be realistic. If you do not stop it gets worse.

"He went to the physio with a slight strain, missed some training and the Celtic game but he felt fine to play in last week's reserve match.

"But afterwards he felt sore again and we sent him for a scan and learned the bad news."
