Hibs have today revealed that midfielder Allan Delferrière has left Easter Road by mutual consent.
The Belgian has agreed a deal to terminate the last year of his contract and leaves the club with immediate effect.
23-year-old Delferrière joined the Hibees from Belgian club Standard Liege for an undisclosed fee in 2022, with the intention of him joining the club's new concept of a "development team", that would be a new step between the big step-up from the Under 19's to the First Team, with the idea that this team would play hand picked friendlies against mostly English sides, with the players also being sporadically introduced to first team football if deemed good enough.
Delferrière, along with guys like Runar Hauge were signed for this team, and added to players kept on from the U19's like Josh O'Connor and Murray Johnson, at first they started to play games and it seemed to be working, with both the aforementioned players getting game first-team time, and also playing against the likes of Brentford, Middlesbrough and Sunderland U23's, but it soon ran it's course.
Allan managed 9 games for the first team, but then had loan spells with Edinburgh City, MFK Vyskov (Czech) and Racing FC Union Luxembourg.
He managed over 50 appearances out on loan with these three clubs.
Speaking on his departure, Hibs boss David Gray said:
“Allan needs to be playing at this key point in his career and we are not able to give him that opportunity here.
“He’s a good person who always worked hard and had a smile on his face, so I would like to thank him for all his efforts. We wish him all the very best for the future.”
HIBERNIAN-MAD VIEW
It seemed for a while that we might have found a real gem with Allan.
He had glowing reports from his time with Edinburgh City, and in his first few appearances for Hibs he showed up well.
However he couldn't quite nail down a first team spot and quickly found himself out on loan.
Hibs seemed to rate him though and he was handed a new long-term deal by former manager Nick Montgomery in September 2023, but it never really happened for him.
It does mean it's another name off the wage bill and unlock's more money in David Gray's budget.
Good luck to Allan from everyone at Hibernian-Mad.
