Hibs midfielder Scott Brown completes £4.4m move to Celtic

Hibs midfielder Scott Brown has completed his £4.4m move to Celtic it was revealed today.

Brown, 21, has been a wanted man for some time now and was wanted by a number of clubs both North and South of the border.

Celtic stole a march on
Glasgow rivals Rangers by landing Brown on a 5-year-deal worth £25,000 a week, rising to £28,000 a week with appearance money.

The fee will rise to £5.5m with add-ons.

Tottenham Hotspur,
Middlesbrough, Bolton Wanderers, Reading and Aston Villa were also thought to be monitoring the situation, but only Reading and Middlesbrough followed up the interest with a bid.

Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate was gutted to have missed out on the midfield dynamo and said:

"He would have fulfilled a couple of roles in midfield,"

"He's young and full of energy, hungry and going to get better. The fact that he went for the price he did and to the club he did shows the sort of talent he is.

"I'm disappointed because I felt in the discussions we had he might see the Premiership as something that would be an attraction for him."

Brown is going to be a massive miss for Hibs and will be irreplaceable in my opinion.

With a reported transfer income of almost £10m in the last few months, let's hope the board back the manager in brining in new faces, as we have lost too many good players recently.

It's time for the board to listen to it's own slogan: "Stand up and be counted"

Good luck Scott from us all at www.Hibernian-Mad.co.uk, NOT against us though.
