Hibs rebel Michael Stewart training with Sunderland!

Last updated : 30 April 2007 By Steve Forbes

Sunderland manager Roy Keane this afternoon confirmed that rebel Hibs midfielder Michael Stewart was training with the Black Cats.

Stewart, 26, has been told by Hibs manager John Collins that he can leave the club when his contract runs out at the end of the season.

It is alleged that Stewart was the main instigator in the Easter Road dressing room revolt last month and it seems that he has played his last game for the Hi-Bees.

The ex Manchester United, Royal Antwerp, Nottingham Forest & Hearts midfielder is now out to impress ex Old Trafford team mate Roy Keane down South and earn himself a contract.

Sunderland manager Keane said:

"Michael Stewart came down, I spoke to him last week as he has had a bit of a fall-out with Hibs."

"I invited him down for a week to have a look at Michael and for Michael to have a look around the football club, and we'll see how it pans out."
