Murray had become homesick at Easter Road after injuring himself and being out for most of last season with a back injury.
Mowbray said:
"We've released his registration which means he can sign for anyone he likes."
Murray joined from Hibs from Ipswich Town on a free transfer.
Good luck Antonio from us all here at Hibernian-Mad.
Mowbray also denied reports that a deal had fallen through for misfit striker Amadou Konte in a move to Germany.
The interested party was said to be German second division side Paderborn.
Mowbray also denied reports linking Chris Hogg with a loan move to Darlington.
Mogga said:"There was no talk from me about them leaving."
