It was revealed this afternoon that Hibs have signed Hungarian International hitman Thomas Sowunmi.

Sowunmi, 28, signed for Hibs after spending a few weeks on trial after leaving
Czech Republic side FC Slovacko.

The former Ferencvaros hitman also spent a week on trial at
Luton Town and impressed enough to be offered a contract by the English side, but opted to sign for the Hi-Bees instead.

Sowunmi has signed until the end of the season, he was able to sign for Hibs after the window closed as he was a free agent.

The striker is Nigerian, but holds a dual Hungarian passport and has represented
Hungary on 10 occasions.

Sowunmi was delighted to have arrived at Easter Road and told the OFFICIAL club website:

“I am delighted to have signed for Hibernian, and I am really excited about joining a team that plays exciting football. I have a reasonable amount of experience, so hopefully that will help our young squad but I will also have things to learn about the game here. It is a challenge I am looking forward to.”

Hibs boss John Collins was also delighted with his capture and said:

“Thomas is a striker who has played at international level and he brings more competition to the squad for places up front. He has been training with us for a few days now and we have been sufficiently impressed to offer him a contract.”
