Hibs today swooped to sign 22-year-old Moroccan playmaker, Merouane Zemmama, from Moroccan side Raja Casablanca on a 5-Year-Deal.

Zemmama has been at Easter Road for 5 weeks as Hibs awaited a work permit (as revealed on Hibernian-Mad (see link).

Even his fellow Moroccan at Hibs, "Benji", didn't think Hibs could secure his services, such was his reputation back home.

Hibs boss Tony Mowbray was delighted to finally get his man and said:

"He has been here five weeks and I have no fears he is going to do exceptionally well. I cannot wait to get him on the football pitch to let everyone see what he can do.

"It's important not to build him up too much, people have to be prepared to let him settle into our way of life and our football but his talent will be evident.

"He was on our radar well before we signed Benji but we were under the impression there was no way we could get a player of his quality. Even speaking to Benji he laughed and said we would not get him because he was too good.

"But we kept persevering, our people over there kept persevering as well and it's paid off for us."

Sounds like a cracking signing for the club and he must be highly rated by the Hibs management after he was handed a 5 year deal.

Hopefully the first of a few players to arrive over the next couple of weeks.
