Hibs boss Tony Mowbray, today confirmed that Hibs had signed Polish goalkeeper, Zbigniew Malkowski on a 2 year contract.

Ex Feyenoord keeper Malkowski impressed while on Hibs pre-season tour of Ireland and was offered a deal. The 6ft 4in keeper will undergo a medical in the next few days.

Hibs boss Tony Mowbray added..

“Ziggy provides us with some competition in goal, Simon Brown will have seen him in Ireland and knows that we have a top-quality goalkeeper joining the club, competition is always good for the squad. John Park saw him first in Holland and Mark had also taken a look, and we got very good reports back about him. For us it is about getting the right players in and building a team that can gel and create a team spirit that can bring them through times when they need to stick together. Hopefully we can create that.”

Brian Hine says:-

The 6 foot 4 inch 27 year old put pen to paper this morning and will provide excellent competition for our present no# 1 Simon Brown who is a good keeper in his own right but he does tend to make too many schoolboy errors and this may be down to the lack of competition he has had in the keepers department of late with only two younger lads on the books.

Ziggy was born in Olsztyn, Poland 19th January and played for Warmia Olsztyn 1994/95 then Stomil Olsztyn 1995/2000 Before moving to SC Feyenoord 2000/2005 which included a loan spell at SBV Excelsior (Rotterdam) 2001/2003
