Hibs skipper Kevin Thomson was today forced to pull out of the upcoming Scotland "B" International against Republic Of Ireland.

Thomson has been struggling with the flu bug and was forced to come off the park in Saturday's win over Inverness Caley.

The dynamic midfielder was joined in the squad by team mates Scott Brown, Steven Whittaker & Michael Stewart and will be gutted to miss out.

Although Thomson has pulled out, his boss at Hibs, John Collins, is adamant Thomo will go on to play for Scotland for years, he said:

"It's a shame for Kevin because he has been playing ever so well for us recently and it would have been good for him to have been involved tonight.

"He's obviously disappointed but I think he has got a big international future.

"If he can keep playing the way he has and moving forward for the club then I think he could do very well at international level."

Collins also believes that Thomson could be fit for Saturday's trip to face Motherwell in Lanarkshire, he said:

"He won't be back in at the club for the next couple of days because he has got a virus and the last thing we need is him coming into contact with the rest of the players and passing it on.

"We're pretty confident though that he will be fine to play at Fir Park on Saturday."
