Motherwell Game on 2nd January is off

Following the sad news yesterday of the sudden death of Motherwell captain Phil O'Donnell, Hibs game against Motherwell on Wednesday 02/01/08 has been called off out of respect for the player and to give the players and fans of Motherwell FC the time to mourn the loss of their club captain.

The match was correctly and quickly called off by Gordon Smith after news of the midfielders death shortly after his side's emphatic 5-3 win over Dundee United at Firpark yesterday.
Also called off is the Gretna v St. Mirren game which was scheduled for the 2nd at Firpark and both games will be rescheduled for later in the season.

Fans of Mothwerwell have been visiting Fir park and leaving their own tributes to their club captain and football fans from all over the world have been leaving messages of sympathy on the Motherwell-mad message board

Thanks to 'owenofglasgow' a Partick Thistle fan for the picture below
