INTERTOTO CUP FINAL 1ST LEG

OB Odense 1-0 Hibs

Sorenson 33(pen)

Hibs lost the first leg of a tight Intertoto Cup Final last night, away from home in
Denmark.

Hibs started brighter and should have taken the lead after only five minutes, when Ivan Sproule spurned a good chance in front of goal.

The game was turned on it's head after 33 minutes, when Odense were awarded a ridiculous penalty, after David Murphy was judged to have chopped down the Odense player in the box, but he clearly won the ball.

Odense full back Chris Sorenson stepped up and smashed the ball past Hibs keeper Simon Brown.

The Danes dominated for most of the second half and Hibs only offered mediocre resistance.

The Danes held on for a 1-0 win and look a good side.

Hibs midfield dynamo Scott Brown, picked up a yellow card and will miss the return leg, as it was his second of the tournament.

Hopefully the Hibees can take the game by the scruff of the neck in the second leg at Easter Road.
