Kevin Thomson back at training

Kevin Thomson back at training

Kevin Thomson has taken a huge step in his battle to overcome the cruciate ligaments injury that has kept him sidelined since the spring.
The 20-year-old midfielder, has started a "Mini pre-season" training programme and is, according to Tony Mowbray, "bang on schedule" for an eagerly awaited return early in 2005.
Thomson joins the main squad for the warm-ups each day but when they go into their session, Kevin joins the fitness coach, Dougie Fowler for his own work outs, which is basic running and 'core' fitness training the sort you get pre season.
Mogga then said
"Hopefully it will be a case of steady progression up to Christmas then maybe after that he'll fully rejoin the squad. Kevin has been doing exceptionally well and is bang on schedule.
"He's chomping at the bit but we are conscious of the fact that we do not need to rush him back after such a long injury."

Meanwhile another crocked player, Scott Brown is also on the road to full fitness and has expressed his desire to play in the new year Derby, though that might come just to quick for a fully fit Scotty Brown.

It's good that these lads Want to play and are desperate to get back on the pitch and it shows when they do get their chance. That goes for the majority of the players at Hibs at the moment, they look like they are enjoying their football and it's showing in the style they are playing it but with so many youngsters in the team they have still to learn an awful lot more about the games plays etc.

Mogga also said: "With a long-term injury it might take another couple of months or it might even be towards the end of the season before you see the Kevin Thomson the fans know.
"There again, he might return full of energy, revitalised and be ready right away. But I am hoping both will come back strong, fit and full of vibrancy.

Mogga has not had a fit Kevin to select, so when Kev's match fit, it's going to be like a new signing for him and Mark Venus to ponder over for selection, though I'm sure that's the type of headache they'd prefer than lack of players fit to select, to wear the Green and White of Hibernian with pride.
