McManus on the coming season

Hibs starlet Tam McManus had an in-depth interview with the Daily Record, giving his thoughts on most of the things happening concerning Hibs.

Last season was a real nightmare for Tam, breaking his leg in a match against Dundee. Of course, since he was out, he watched from the sidelines as Garry O'Connor cemented his place in the Hibs starting line up, and forced his way into the Scotland reckoning.

Tam said: "Garry has done really well. He has taken his chance at Easter Road, scored goals and got his reward by getting called up to the international team. It just shows what can be done."

He also talked about the turmoil that was connected with the manager's chair last season, and definately felt sympathy for a Hibs legend.

"I felt sorry for Franck when he left the club. When he came in for Alex he inherited a lot of problems and unfortunately the players did not get him the run of results."

But after a 5 month lay off Tam is raring to go for the new season, and prove to the new boss that he doesn't need to replace the departed Craig Brewster. McManus continued: "Breaking my leg against Dundee was a nightmare. But that is in the past and I'm just desperate to get playing again. "I managed the last three or four weeks at the end of the season and a couple of practice games. Now I'm getting ready for the real thing."

Tam added: "I'm as hungry as ever. I've not kicked a ball in the first team for Bobby Williamson and I've got to impress him enough to be included in his plans. Ulrik Laursen is another player who has been injured and is looking forward to the coming season."

This season is in no doubt going to be a massive one for young Tam. He has shown bags of promise in recent seasons, but now is the time he has to deliver.
