Mowbray may allow Grounds to extend Hibs loan stay

Former Hibs boss Tony Mowbray has today hinted he may allow Jonathan Grounds to stay on loan at Easter Road until the end of the season.

The new Middlesbrough boss had stated that he wanted to see what all his players were capable off, and would be recalling the players Boro currently have out on loan, once their initial loan agreements were up.

Mowbray has now hinted that due to finances, he may allow Grounds, and the other on loan Riverside stars, to extend their loan deals and stay with their current clubs.

Grounds is due to head back to England in January, but has done quite well at Easter Road.

Mogga, speaking about Grounds and fellow loanee Andy Taylor, said:

"There are financial implications to think about and I'll be assessing things in due course.

"There's a fair chance one or both could still come back, but they're both left-footed defenders and in my mind I have a pretty good left-footed defender playing in the team at the moment.

"Do I want to load more outgoings on to the expenses we have already? I have to give some thought on what's best for the squad and the team."

Hibs boss Colin Calderwood added:

"I've spoken to Tony Mowbray but it is something we have to leave until we get nearer the end of his loan, probably mid-way through January.

"It's not been decided one way or the other, first and foremost it will be their decision, what they want to do. After that, it becomes our decision."
