Newcastle, Portsmouth & West Brom Join The Race For Hibs Pair!!

Last updated : 21 November 2006 By Steve Forbes

HIBERNIAN-MAD.CO.UK understands that Newcastle United, Portsmouth & West Brom are all believed to be ready to make a bid for Hibs midfield pair Scott Brown and Kevin Thomson in the January transfer window.

The two Hibs midfielders are attracting the interest of many a club, including: Rangers, Celtic, Tottenham Hotspur,
Anderlecht, Lokomotiv Moscow, Bolton Wanderers and Charlton Athletic.

It is now thought Newcastle United are ready to offer £5.5m for the pair in the window, but they will also face stiff competition from Premiership rivals Portsmouth and ex Hibs boss Tony Mowbray at West Brom.

West Brom turned down a £8.5m bid for there defender Curtis Davies from Portsmouth but are expected to accept an upcoming £10m bid for the player, this will give Mowbray to come and raid his old club(like he said he wouldn't!!) for the two players.

Let's hope Hibs fend of the vultures until ATLEAST the summer as this could be our most successful season in decades.

This transfer window is going to be the worst yet.

C'mon Mr Petrie, just say no!
