Plastic Madness

Last updated : 14 February 2005 By Brian Hine
News today that Dunfermline are to replace their artificial pitch with wait for it..................... Another Plastic Pitch.
But this time it's got has the full backing of Uefa, where as the one being replaced has seemingly failed to pass the criteria of Uefa's experiment.

The old plastic pitch is to be ripped up after the Pars home game with herts and the new one will be laid and ready for the visit of Hibs on 19th March 2005.

Looks like we'll be the visiting guinea pigs once again as we were the first away team to play on the original plastic.

The controversial Plastic Pitches have also been in the news at Easter Road recently with the Hibs board now not so keen to install the artificial surface and it definitely won't be installed at the end of this season now, partly due to the Elton John concert in June but also because the board have cooled down on the interest shown in such pitches, for the time being anyway. Good says I, as I think Football should be played on natural grass but that's just me.
