Hibs show interest in new Striker

Hibs have lined up a replacement forward for Deek (if Deek leaves this summer) in 23 year old Shrewsbury Town striker Luke Rodgers.

Mogga
is taking no chances and will move quickly to find a
replacement if the right offer comes in from those showing interest.
Celtic are understood to be keen on taking Deek to Parkhead and, Hibs have rejected the bids made so far, as they don’t match Hibs valuation, funnily enough.

Crewe Alexandra were leading the chase for Rodgers with Rotherham also showing interest.

Former Shrews manager Jimmy Quinn valued the striker at £500,000 two years ago when Crewe's initial interest was rejected.

However, Hibs are set to take advantage of a cross-border transfer rule which will allow the out-of-contract player to move to Scotland on a free, due to the Bosman ruling.

Crewe, on the other hand, would have to pay a fee to land the striker.

Rodgers' agent Mark Cartwright revealed: "We are waiting on Hibernian,
but that is dependant on whether Riordan moves on. Under the contract
rules, Luke would be classed as a free agent if he went up there as it
is an international transfer."

23 year old Rodgers has been at
Shrewsbury Town since 1999, scoring 78 goals in 173 starts.
