Former manager Franck Sauzee will meet Rod Petire to thrash out the termination of his playing contract.

desperate to say a final goodbye, Franck said: "I will meet with Mr Petrie because he wants to talk to me. I have nothing against that. Hibs said to me when I left that they would honour my contract. They have done that. Right now, I do not know about the future but the club have been gentleman-like to me."

As we all know, Franck was sacked after just 69 days in charge of side, a period in which we won just one game. Sauzee is under contract as a player with Hibs, with that deal reported to be well over £5000 a week.

A termination of the contract with compensation to Franck would be best for Hibs. In this day of fianancial insecurity for Scottish clubs, that kind of money going out and we're getting nothing back to it, helps no one. Remember, Bobby Williamson wanted to keep Craig Brewster but couldn't afford to give him a new deal. Mathias Jack still doesn't have a new deal. That kind of money would come in very handy trying to bring in new talent to the club.

Franck is easily the greatest player I have ever seen in a Hibs jersey, but having him on the payroll is helping no one. A deal would let Franck move on, as I'm sure he will to be a successful boss, and it would free up some wages for us.

Good luck in whatever you do next Franck, there will be many, many people rooting for you.
