Hibs today revealed that Steven Whittaker will be out for up to 4 weeks.

The exciting young full back, 21, went over on his ankle in the 4-2 triumph over Kilmarnock at the weekend.

It was first thought that the Scotland U-21 full back had sprained his ankle, but after a scan at hospital, it was found the injury is worse than first thought and will now keep Whittaker out for 4 weeks.

Hibs manager Tony Mowbray had revealed just last week, his fears for Whittaker after he played 10 games in 30 days and his fear have now been realized, he said...

"He's got a little bit of ligament damage so he'll be missing for about four weeks we're told.

"We had hoped it wouldn't be quite as long as that had it only been a sprain but then again it could have been worse so we are trying to stay positive.

"Whitty is a fit lad who heals quickly and we are hoping that a few weeks rest can actually help him because I have spoken quite recently about how much football Steven has played"
