Wolves target O'Connor?

It has been reported in the media this morning that Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to make a bid for Scotland squad player Garry O'Connor.

The Nationwide first division club see the 18 year hitman as a great prospect and are said to be ready to test Hibs' resolve with a £1.5m bid.

O'Connor has had a fantastic first full season, with 6 goals and a has forced his way into the senior Scotland set up. He hasn't even represented his country at under 21 level, such has been his meteoric rise to prominence.

Wolves Manager Dave Jones may well send someone up to check on O'Connor if he plays against Nigeria tonight, or on Saturday for the home game against Motherwell.

But before our young star makes any hasty decisions, he should maybe think about one ex Hibee who is already at Molineux. Kenny Miller was seen as one of the future stars of the Scottish game, playing regularly for Hibs and scoring goals. Unfortunately for all concerned, the 'big boys', Glasgow Rangers came along and decided that they wanted him to warm their bench, and off Kenny went in search of instant glory.

We all know what happened after that, Kenny hardly played, his confidence took a battering as striker after striker was signed and he eventually went on loan to Wolves before signing premenantly for them. A shoulder injury curtailed his progress and now he's struggling in Birmingham, despite being fully fit. Surely the fact that Wolves want to sign another young striker shows that.  He's only scored twice for Wolves, this is a team pushing for promotion remember.

So please Garry, if the bright lights seem to be calling, just think of what happened to KM and improve as a player with regular football for Hibs and probably Scotland. You know it makes sense!
