Hibernian 1 Aberdeen 2

Aberdeen nabbed all three points from Easter Road after a backs-to-the-wall second half display.

Steve Crawford and Darren Mackie grabbed early goals, and even a late sending-off for substitute Scott Muirhead could not ruin their day.

Hibs gifted Aberdeen two goals in the first 15 minutes. After just four minutes, Celtic-bound skipper Gary Caldwell misplaced a pass across his own area and Crawford nipped in to sidestep Zibi Malkowski and stroke the ball home.

Worse was to follow as Malkowski and Chris Hogg left a through ball to each other, and Mackie was alert enough to force the ball home from close range.

It was just the start that Aberdeen needed, and they dominated the first half as Hibs looked uncertain at the back.

It took the home side 25 minutes to get a shot at goal and, even then, Michael Stewart's half-hit shot was always going wide of target.

Derek Riordan had a better effort nine minutes from the break when Scott Brown cut the ball back from the right, but he directed his 10-yard shot straight at Jamie Langfield.

Riordan came within inches of pulling a goal back after 47 minutes when he curled the ball over Langfield only to see it hit the inside of the post.

The Hibs striker then struck the post with a 70th-minute penalty after Barry Nicholson had pulled him down.

Steven Whittaker grabbed a late consolation for Hibs before Muirhead was sent off for two bookings in just 60 seconds in injury-time.
