Hibernian 2-2 Dumbarton- Match Report

Hibs grab point from draw with Dumbarton

Ladbrokes Championship leaders Hibernian battled back to secure a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Dumbarton at Easter Road.

The visitors were closing in on three points thanks to Christian Nade's first-half penalty and a fine finish from Robert Thomson.

But Martin Boyle's late effort - after Daniel Harvie scored an own goal and James Keatings saw a penalty saved - earned Hibs a point.

The hosts went close after 18 minutes when Grant Holt managed to get a touch on Efe Ambrose's flick-on, but goalkeeper Alan Martin was able to snuff out the danger at the second attempt.

And Hibs were made to pay when Dumbarton were awarded a penalty in the 36th minute

Marvin Bartley was penalised for a foul on Andy Stirling and Nade stepped up to send Ofir Marciano the wrong way.

Hibs were back on level terms in the 57th minute when John McGinn's cross was diverted into his own net by the unfortunate Harvie.

Dumbarton regained the lead five minutes later, though, through Thomson, who fired his effort into the bottom corner from 18 yards.

Neil Lennon's side were handed a lifeline in the 69th minute when Holt was pulled down in the area, but Martin produced a fine stop from Keatings' spot-kick.

However, Boyle's header trickled over the line in the 83rd minute to clinch his side a point.
