Hibs set to sign defender Jason Kerr

Hibs are close to secruing their first signing of the summer transfer window.

Defender Jason Kerr has been in Edinburgh these last few days discussing a deal, with an agreement said to be close, and his medical imminent.

The 29-year-old is a free agent after leaving English side Wigan Athletic at the end of his contract and is on the verge of becoming David Gray's first signing this window.

Kerr, a well known Hibs supporter, started his career with St Johnstone, and went on to captain them to a cup double during the 2020-21 season.

He played nearly 150 games for the Perth club, with a couple of loan deal with East Fife and Queen of the South during that time.

Kerr signed for Wigan at the start of the 2021-22 season and played over 130 times in 5 seasons with the Latics.

Hibs are expected to announce his signing in the coming days.

HIBERNIAN-MAD VIEW

A good, solid signing for the Hibees should the deal get across the line.

Kerr being a massive Hibee is a plus.

Hibs had been expected to bolster their centre half options after the news broke that Rocky Bushiri is facing a long spell on the sidelines, with an expected achilles injury, and the departure of Manashe Garananga back to FC Copenhagen after his loan deal.
