Falkirk open the door for Hibs to swoop for manager John Hughes!!!

Falkirk have today admitted that they will not stand in their Manager John Hughes' way, should a bigger club come calling for his services.

Hughes is thought to be the Hibees No.1 target as they look to replace Mixu Paatelainen in the Easter Road hot-seat.

Hibs could face competition for the Bairns manager from English Championship side Swansea City, who are on the verge of losing Roberto Martinez to Wigan Athletic this week.

Falkirk managing director George Craig said:

"No approach has been made. At the moment, it's all speculation. John has been making it known maybe he's reaching that stage in his managerial career when it's time to see if he can face another challenge.

"If an opportunity was to come along for him I would consider it. We'd be understanding. I hope that between ourselves and John and whatever club came in for him we'd be able to come to an amicable settlement."

Hughes isn't the only candidate for the vacant post down Leith way, with Mark Venus, Michael O'Neill, Jim Gannon, Martin Ling and Colin Calderwood just some of the names linked to the club.
