French club table £2m bid for Hibs winger Elie Youan

According to The Scotsman tonight, an undisclosed French club has made an offer for Hibs winger Elie Youan. The bid is reportedly £2 million, that with add-ons, could reach £2.5m for the player who notched 10 goals and provided 11 assists last season.

Hibs previously rejected bids in January, believed to be from Stoke City and FC Basel, and the identity of the current bidding club is still a mystery.

The unmanaged Hibees face a choice: retain the player or capitalize on the offer and bolster their transfer funds, already swelled by the Black Knights' investment.

With a new manager yet to be appointed and a significant squad overhaul anticipated at Easter Road, the additional £2 million could prove beneficial.

Youan, aged 25, transferred to Hibs from Swiss club St Gallen, initially on a loan with a purchase option, which Hibs exercised after his impressive season, securing the former Nantes and Mechelen player for £700,000 last summer.

HIBERNIAN-MAD VIEW

It's a decent offer for a player we only paid £700,000 for a year earlier.

However, Youan has been in excellent form for us, but he could still head for the exit.

Youan has been involved in spats on social media with some, so called, Hibs fans, and could see this as an easy way out.

An then you have to factor in that an extra £2m on top of the Black Knight money would help out any incoming manager to build his own team.
