Hibs boss Paul Heckingbottom could be closing in on his first signing at Easter Road.

Heckingbottom has tonight confirmed the Hibees are looking at free agent, American defender, Jonathan Spector.

The former Man Utd player, 32, is a free agent after leaving MLS side Orlando City.

Spector, capped 36 times by the USA, was in the stand this evening as the Hibees made it three wins in-a-row, with a 1-2 triumph over St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.

Heckingbottom said:

“He is unattached and could prove useful for us so he’s having a look at us and we are having a look at him.

“It would be foolish not to look at him as in we do all the hard work now and something happens so we cover all bases. He is someone with a good pedigree, a good lad, so we will see what happens. It’s a possibility.”

Spector has previously played for Man Utd, Charlton Athletic, Wst Ham and Birmingham City.
