Hibs have today revealed that young defender Jack Brydon has signed for Queen of the South.
The full terms of the move will stay undisclosed, but it's thought Hibs have a hefty sell-on inserted in the deal as well as a fee.
The 18-year-old only just returned to Easter Road this week from a loan with FC Edinburgh and has now become new Queen of the South manager Marvin Bartley's first signing.
Brydon was contracted to the Hibees until this coming summer, and he was expected to eventually push for a first team start.
However, Hibs have now decided to let him leave and join the Scottish League One strugglers.
Brydon has some good first team experience now, having had previous loan spells with Civil Service Strollers, Stenhousemuir, and two loan spells with FC Edinburgh, amassing just shy of 50 appearances.
He also made it onto the bench for the Hibees 21/22 Europa Conference League campaign.
Brydon has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Dumfries side.
Speaking to the official club website, Hibs DV boss Steve Kean said:
“This is a great opportunity for Jack to go and play regular First Team football. After his successful loans, it is no surprise a full-time club has come in for him and seen his qualities.
“As a player, I am sure he will grasp this opportunity. As a person, Queen of the South are getting a fantastic character and extremely hard-working young player who has a fantastic attitude.
“We wish Jack all the best for the future.”
HIBS-MAD VIEW:
Another youngster out the door.
Hibs have amassed a very large group of players, and despite Jack being well thought of at ER he has been allowed to leave.
It's not hard to work out that Jack has become the latest victim of Hibs need to get players off the wage bill.
Boss Lee Johnson is keen to bring a few quality players in, but players need to leave to allow that to happen.
