Hibs keeper Stack out for the rest of the season

Hibs goalkeeper Graham Stack has today been told his season is over, after picking up an injury against St Johnstone on Saturday.

The big Englishman was in goal during the Hibees run of 5 straight wins, which has seen the club pull away from a relegation fight and in to top 6 contention.

He was carried off with a shoulder injury, as the Hibees won 2-1 away at New Douglas Park against Hamilton Accies, after a poor challenge from the opposition player, who didn’t even attempt to go for the ball.

He missed Saturday’s 1-1 draw with St Johnstone in Perth, replaced by Mark Brown, and has now been told he needs surgery and will be out for 3 months.

This means his season is over, and also means the player faces an uncertain future as his contract is up in the summer.

29-year-old Stack is fighting it out with Graeme Smith, Mark Brown and Czech keeper Jakub Divis, to see who remains at Easter Road next season as boss Colin Calderwood builds a new look squad, with 14 player’s out-of-contract in the summer.

Graeme Smith is also out of contract this summer, Mark Brown has another 12 months still to run on his deal, and Divis is on loan until next January, and NOT the summer as some press reports are stating.
