Hibs linked with Kortrijk striker Pape Habib Gueye

According to a report coming out of Belgium, Hibs are closing in on the signing of a new striker.

The Hibees are apparently set to land KV Kortrijk striker Pape Habib Gueye.

Senegalese hitman Gueye is out-of-contract in 2024, and has only featured once for the relegation threatened Pro-League side this season so far.

6ft 2in Gueye made his name in Norway with Aalesunds, bursting onto the scene in 2018 as an 18-year-old and he scored 25 goals in 55 games.

He then moved on to KV Kortrijk in 2020 for a reported 500k fee.

Gueye has scored 15 goals in 57 games during his time in Belgium.

Hibs boss Lee Johnson is expected to strike a deal in the coming days.

HIBERNIAN-MAD VIEW

We must admit, we were hoping there was a midfielder or two coming in, as we look short of real quality in there.

New 350k signing Dylan Levitt could be facing a spell on the sidelines after he picked up a horrible looking injury against Luzern last Thursday.

Jake-Doyle Hayes and Josh Campbell are also struggling, making midfielders seem a priority.

However, Gueye has a decent scoring record and with Hibs down to 3 strikers in Le Fondre, Doidge and Vente, a fourth makes sense.

What we dunno is if Gueye would be permanent or a loan deal.
