Despite currently not having a manager in place, following the sacking of Colin Calderwood, Hibs have today been linked with a move for an Irish midfielder.

According to sportsnewsireland.com, Hibs have joined Dundee Utd and Peterborough United in the chase for Sligo Rovers captain Richie Ryan.

Ryan, 26, is now out-of-contract and apparently the Hibees had him watched in the recent FAI Ford cup final against Shelbourne at the Aviva Stadium, with Sligo winning on penalties to retain the trophy.

Dundee Utd have made an offer to the player, and Championship side Peterborough have offered the player a trial.

Ryan started his career with Sunderland, making two appearances, before moving to Scunthorpe United, and then Boston united, spending 12 months at both clubs.

He then had a spell with Royal Antwerp in Belgium, before returning to his native Ireland to sign for Sligo Rovers in 2008.

He also won the PFAI Player of the Year award for the 2010 season.
