Hibs new boy Abderaouf Zarabi's move to Easter Road has hit another snag, despite the player gaining a UK work permit a week ago.

The 28-year-old Algerian internationalist had hoped to make his debut in Sunday afternoon's Scottish Cup 5th Round clash with Rangers at Easter Road but was held up in
France.

The £100,000 capture from French club Gueugnon is still waiting on his entry visa, after the authorities refused to accept a photo copy of the document.

A Hibs official delivered the document in person on Monday and the left back is now waiting on the postman to deliver his visa, so he can begin his Hibs career.

Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen said:

"The Embassy don't hand out the entry visa there and then, it has to be posted out to his home address. There's no problem at all other than waiting for the postman to arrive."

The Hibs boss is hopeful that his new player will make this weekend's clash with Dundee Utd at Tannadice, he said:

"Abdel has been very frustrated at not being able to come and join his new club. We'd actually pulled him out of Algeria's international get-together this week, but he's since gone to join the squad so it isn't as if he hasn't been training.

"Abdel has signed for three-and-a-half years so there will be plenty of matches for him to play for Hibs although, naturally, we'd like him here sooner rather than later."
