Hibs are hot on the trail of former Dundee Utd loan keeper Grzegorz Szamotulski.

Szamotulski, 32, has just been released by Israel side FC Ashdod after six months in the Middle East.

The goalkeeper known as "The Monk" joined FC Ashdod from English Championship side Preston North End.

He joined Preston after a successful six-month loan spell at Dundee Utd, there he attracted the interest of both Hearts and Celtic after some terrific display's at Tannadice.

Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen is after en experienced number one to challenge Yves Ma-Kalambay and Andy McNeil for the goalkeeper jersey.

Although we believe that Andy McNeil has been told he can leave the Hibees, and that he has already turned down the chance of becoming an understudy to former Scotland keeper Neil Sullivan at Doncaster.

Szamotulski is thought to be already on trial at the Hibees £5m state-of-the-art training facility at East Mains, Tranent, with view to a possible January move to Easter Road.
