Hibs pair Rob Jones and Benji in line for Ibrox return!!

Last updated : 03 March 2008 By Steve Forbes

Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen has today revealed that both Captain Rob Jones and Moroccan forward Benji could both return from injury in time for Hibs trip to Ibrox to face Rangers on Sunday.

The Hibees travel to
Glasgow on Scottish Cup duty at the weekend in a 5th round replay, after the first game ended in a 0-0 stalemate at Easter Road.

Jones, 28, has missed the Hibees last two games after picking up a hamstring injury in the Hibees 3-1 win over
Aberdeen in the SPL.

The Hibees captain has been covered in the centre of defnce by new signing Martin Canning, who has turned in two superb performances against
Falkirk and Celtic.

On the other hand Benji has suffered a horrendous season and has only made EIGHT appearances this season for the Hibees, scoring just one goal.

The Moroccan hitman suffered a hamstring injury at the start of the season and then missed vital games after following the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

23-year-old Benji then picked up a knee injury, which was aggravated after he was picked to play for
Morocco in a couple of U23 internationals, to the fury of then Hibs boss John Collins.

He finally made his comeback just before the Hibees headed to Parkhead to face Celtic in December, he lasted about an hour, only to pick up another hamstring injury and has been out ever since.

Hibs boss Paatelainen has been handed a massive boost ahead of Sunday's trip to Ibrox, with the news that both Jones and Benji could come into contention, he said:

"The Celtic game was a bit too early for Rob. We have very important matches coming up and we'd have been taking a chance of him aggravating the injury.

"However, we hope to have him back for Sunday."

Speaking on Benji, he said:

"Benji's trained with the squad at the end of last week and hopefully there will be no reaction.

"He'll get stronger as he trains during the course of this week and hopefully he will be ready for Sunday."

Excellent news, hopefully Hibs can keep up their superb recent record at Ibrox and send the Glasgow side spinning out the cup and help us on our way back to Hampden once again!!!!
