Hibs set to bid £250,000 for Crewe Alexandra midfielder Michael O'Connor

According to some area's of today's press, Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen is weighing up a £250,000 summer swoop for out-of-favour Crewe Alexandra midfielder Michael O'Connor.

The 21-year-old is said to be Paatelainen's top summer transfer target as he looks to bolster the Hibs midfield.

The Hibees have also been linked with a move for Blackburn Rovers youngster Bryan Hodge (see our front page).

Paatelainen has not hid the fact that he has still not found an adequate replacement for departed French playmaker Guillaume Beuzelin, who signed for Coventry City last summer, and it seems O'Connor could fit the bill.

O'Connor only has one year left on his contract and has fallen out with Crewe boss Gudjon Thordarson, Ironically an ex Hibs managerial candidate.

O'Connor has played over 80 games for Crewe, and has also spent some time on loan at Lincoln City.

He has been capped 3 times by Northern Ireland.
