Hibs sign Bournemouth midfielder Nathan Moriah-Welsh

Last updated : 27 January 2024 By Steve Forbes

Hibs boss Nick Montgomery has today completed his fourth signing of the January transfer window.

Bournemouth midfielder Nathan Moriah-Welsh has joined the Hibees for an undisclosed fee, on a two-and-a-half-year-deal.

The 21-year-old is the second player to head to Easter Road from the Cherries this window, following the exciting capture on Emiliano Marcondes on loan for the rest of the season.

Moriah-Welsh spent time on loan with Newport County last season, playing over 40 times and scoring 3 goals.

He has also been capped 14 times by Gayana and scored 3 times.

Speaking to the official club website, Hibs boss Monty said:

“With the impending departure of Jimmy Jeggo, we wanted to have strength in depth in our midfield options. Nathan is a player who we have been tracking for a while and watched live on a few occasions this season.

“At 21 he is a hungry young player who will bring energy and work rate. He likes a tackle and can also get forward from midfield.

“He has already had a loan spell in England, which he gained valuable experiences from and there was a lot of interest in him from clubs south of the border.

“With his attributes I feel he can develop into a very good player for the Club moving forward.”

Nathan goes straight on to the bench for today's game at Kilmarnock.
